Zaya Rum and an E.P. Carrillio Core Line Maduro.
This combo fires on all cylinders and is IMO the perfect way to end a day.
What's you favorite cigar and drink pairing?

What's you favorite cigar and drink pairing?
Zaya is the best sipping rum I've ever had. Great stuff!
I frequently pair my cigars with rum. I'll have to try Zaya.

Kevin, Zaya is as smooth as it gets. My other fave is One Barrel.
Pairings depend on the type of cigar for me:
Maduro's I like to pair with Port or a good red wine ( merlot or cab)
Habano's I like to pair with a good scotch or bourbon.
Cameroon's I like with a good scotch.
I love Camacho Triple Maduro with Caparone Zinfandel or their Cab. I also love Tatuaje Gran Cojonu with Lagavulin 12yo scotch.
My favorite drink with any cigar is lightly sweetened Green Tea.
I do like sweetned green tea and coffee/espresso with a cigar as well, they pair nicely.
Mmmm... espresso and coffee are great.
Since I live in a place that's hot year-round I pair milder cigars with an ice cold Corona. With more robust, after dinner cigars I prefer a nice single malt
For medical reaasons I have been off the booze for 10 weeks. Hope to be back in the saddle by November. So I'm a bit jeolous of all you guys with your pairings. I think about my fridge in the basement full of untouched exotic beers, the wine rack with 100 bottles of varietals waiting to be uncorked and, of course, the wet bat that hides the true treasures of single malts, vodkas, ports and other assorted potables.
Lately I have resorted to drinking N/A beers so tide me over. There are some real bad ones out there but I have found a couple that fill the bill. My fave so far is St. Paulie Girl N/A. Nice and crisp like you'd expect from the Germans and Guiness' Kaliber, which is a different sort of drink. Good news is that these are reasonable facsimilies of the real thing and they are low cal when compared to their older siblings. Heck, the Kaliber is 70 calories a bottle.
When I get the all clear to join the adult ranks again I will be going full tilt and, hopefully, contribute to this interesting thread;but until then these will suffuce.
Sweet tea sometimes, if I'm really lucky it'll be Bourbon.

I sometimes drink NA, I like Becks NA and Odouls Amber is pretty decent as well. I have to try the Warsteiner NA, I have seen it but always forget to pick some up.
i'll pair port with anything, cigars, on ice cream, with a healthy steak, by itself, in between scotch and waters. my favorite is fairbanks port, from upstate ny, costs $15. per 3 liter bottle, about a gallon for the metrically challenged.

Nice price! My favorite is actually Trader Joes house brand, Porto Morgado, it is about $6.95 a bottle and I like it better than the $20 per bottle stuff I tried.
Seein as i'm a La Gloria Cubana and Jack Daniels guy, i love going with a La Gloria Cubana Serie R #7 Maduro and a nice glass of Jack Danels Single Barrel
On a regular day, or actually evening, I'll pour a healthy shot of Balvenie 12, a tiny tiny splash of water, and light up nearly any good stick.
I'm not much of a drinker, so, generally I just like something cold to offset the "hot" of the smoke.
I'll readily admit, however, that Port is always a good option.
Usually coffee or water with just about anything. On the rare occasion I have something stronger, I'll go for some Talisker 18yo, or some expression of Aberlour. I have a bottle of Aberlour I was allowed to draw directly from the cask at the Aberlour distillery while I was in Scotland a couple of years ago. It's about time to crack that puppy open...
Mostly bottled water or beer (domestic)
Generally speaking, I will drink a rum: Gossling's , Appleton Estates, Havana Club. Or a rye like Redemption or Bullet. I have also paired with craft porters or Belgium beers. The craft porters have some of the flavors you all were discussing i.e coffee, chocolate and bourbon. You can get porters that have matured in old bourbon barrels. You can also get English ales that are matured in rum barrels they also go well with a s.moke
Most of the time, I drink coffee.
I've taught a college culinary arts class on food and beverage pairings, and I've put together a theory on approaching combinations that work. The first part is that you can always go with a drink that is lighter and less intense than the cigar if you want the stogie to stand out, or vice versa, If you're looking for balance, then I suggest matching the body of the beverage and cigar (ruby port with a full bodied cigar, dry white wine with a light bodied Connecticut Shade). But what I prefer is to have the drink exhibit a different flavor profile than the cigar. So if I pair a port with a full bodied cigar, I would prefer a spicy, lively cigar to contrast the smooth, rich sweetness of the port.,

<scootching chair up to learn more> And welcome!
When I have time to disconnect the coffee IV from my arm and actually sit back and enjoy a cup with a stogie, I tend to take very varied approaches to pairings--sometimes trying to match likenesses, sometimes going for contrast, sometimes just running out in left field. I put a lot of faith in my gut reactions in that regard.
Just thought I'd throw this out there: while researching my last article (Searching for the Perfect Pair), I tried a Belinda, either an Exquisito or Prominente (I forget); it outclassed the coffees so much that I set it aside for another time. It was a brilliant smoke that, off the top of my head, I wanted to pair with a great gin & sweet vermouth martini.
Nice I will have to try that with a rum!
Does anyone drink mint juleps with their cigars or is that just me? (only in the spring/summer months of corse)
I'll let you know come summer--I think I can squeeze a couple juleps in between the steady stream of G&Ts
Well.... Spring is here and I had my first Mint Julep with a Perdomo Champagne 10th Anny last night. Just a delight! I recommend this to anyone in the warmer months.
